UAW Local 2209 Family:
My name is Amanda Meier and I'm running for Trustee on our Executive Board. Like many of you, I started my career at General Motors as a Temp. I hired in full time after coming back from strike in 2007. Over the years, I have worked in every department and on all 3 shifts, but you can currently find me on A-side Doorline on 1st shift.
Throughout my first 15 years as a member of UAW Local 2209, prior to having the honor of serving on our Executive Board, I served our membership as an Election Committee member and on numerous other committees, I also served as the Editor of our Local Union Newsletter "Local Voices", and as the Chair of the CAP Committee. I helped workers organize their own Local Union at the Casino in Cincinnati, OH as a temporary organizer. I have also helped elect numerous worker friendly candidates to public office in Indiana and Ohio, through my efforts as a temporary organizer for the National CAP Department.
Along with serving as Trustee of Local 2209, I continue to help educate our membership through my work teaching dozens of classes at our Local Union, Region, and at Black Lake, as a certified Local Union Discussion Leader (LUDL). I'm also serving my third term as the Chair of our UAW CAP Council.
For the last 3 years, I've proudly served our membership as 1 of 3 Trustees on our Executive Board. During that time, I helped oversee the remodeling of our Union Hall, the restructuring of our inventory process, and setting a budget for our Local Union, while always being your voice on our Executive Board.
I would be honored to have the opportunity to serve as your Trustee for another term, and I'm asking for your support and vote on May 16 from 5 a.m. until 5 a.m. on May 17.
